Aluminum 6063-T52 Rectangular Bar, 0.375" Thick, 1.75" Width, 36" Length Feature

  • Good resistance to general corrosion
  • Easily welded or brazed
  • Use for door and window frames, electrical components and conduit, railings and furniture, heatsinks
  • Good extrudability and high quality surface finish
  • Min 22 ksi tensile strength
Alloy 6063, one of the most popular alloys in the 6000 series, provides good extrudability and a high quality surface finish. In the heat-treated condition, alloy 6063 provides good resistance to general corrosion, including resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It is easily welded or brazed by various commercial methods (caution: direct contact by dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion). Since 6063 is a heat-treatable alloy, strength in its -T6 condition can be reduced in the weld region. Selection of an appropriate filler alloy will depend on the desired weld characteristics. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for proper safety and handling precautions when using alloy 6063. Alloy 6063 offers excellent response for anodizing in its -T5, -T52 , -T53 (“matte finish”), -T54, -T6 (“lustrous” finish) tempers. The most common methods are clear, clear and color dying, and bright dipping and hard coat. Bright dipping provides an economical alternative to mechanical polished finishes while offering improved surface durability.

Aluminum 2024-T3 Rectangular Bar, ASTM-B211, 1/2" Thick, 1" Width, 36" Length Feature

  • Considered an Aircraft Alloy
  • Has excellent fatigue resistance
  • Machine to a fine finish
  • Excellent Corrosion resistance
  • ASTM B211
Aluminum is one of the earths most abundant metallic elements. With the exception of oxygen and silicon, it is perhaps the most widely distributed of all the elements. Obtained principally from bauxite, alumina (aluminum oxide) is a white metal with a slightly bluish coloration. Pure (99.9 percent) aluminum melts at 1220F (660C). Its density is .097 lbs per in3 and has approximately two-thirds the thermal and electrical conductivity of copper, and it is non magnetic. Aluminum has a high strength-to-weight ratio, is resistant to tarnishing and corrosion, and has an attractive silvery appearance. Aluminum is an extremely versatile material, it may be cast or wrought, it is available in a variety of alloys and tempers, and it accepts many different kinds of surface finishes, including anodic treatments. Machinability is considered easy and it can be soldered and welded. Alloy 2024 T4 Hardware, fittings and structural components made of these aircraft alloys are used extensively in the aircraft and transportation industries. Used where good strength to weight ratio is required, this high-strength Aluminum has excellent fatigue resistance and can be machined to a fine finish. It may be formed in the annealed condition and can be heat treated. It is rated only fair for welding, although spot welding and seam welding are commonly practiced.

Stainless Steel 303 Rectangular Bar, ASTM A582 , 1/2" Thick, 1-1/2" Width, 12" Length Feature

  • ASTM-A582
  • Corrosion Resistant
  • Free Machining
  • High temperature Strength
  • Low Temperature Toughness
Stainless Steel Rectangular Bar Type 303 ASTM-A582 is a free-machining alloy with sulfur content that enhances its machinability. Typical applications include bolts, bushings, nuts, shafts, and parts produced on automatic screw machines. Stainless Steels are alloys of iron and carbon that contain between 12 percent and 30 percent Cr, plus other alloying elements. The chromium, which helps develop a passive surface oxide film, provides corrosion resistance in stainless steels. Stainless Steels are wrought or cast and consist of several families that are named for their metallurgical structure. Stainless Steels are fabricated and welded by all common processes and are used for their corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, scaling resistance, and low-temperature toughness. Density is .29 lbs./in3. Formability is good, and cold working results in increased strength. This alloy is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, although it may become slightly magnetic after cold working. It can be hardened only by cold working, and not by heat treatment. Stainless Steel 18-8 denotes 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel. This generic designation Stainless Steel 18-8 includes Types 301, 302, 303, 304, and 305.
